What it really is

DSD is not software. It is a way of thinking.

Before any sculpting, shaping, or bonding, the smile is designed in 3D, tried on as a mock-up, and validated by both the patient and the team. Nothing becomes permanent before it has been reversible first.

At Well Clinic Odontologia, DSD starts with a 3D intraoral scan, moves through planning by the interdisciplinary team, including Dr. Jacqueline Schneider, CRO 146659/SP, and reaches the Well Lab, the in-house digital laboratory connected to the DSD Center in Madrid.

Because the method was created inside this clinic, updates to the worldwide protocol pass through here first. In practice, that means you are treated with the most refined version of DSD, applied by the people who helped build it.

Frequently asked questions

What patients ask us.

What is Digital Smile Design (DSD)?

DSD is a digital smile planning protocol: before any sculpting, shaping, or bonding, the smile is designed in 3D over your own face, tried on as a reversible mock-up, and approved by you and by the clinical team. It was created by Dr. Christian Coachman inside Well Clinic Odontologia and is used today in more than 80 countries.

Can I see the result before starting?

Yes. That is the point of the mock-up: the planned smile is placed in your mouth so you can see it, speak with it, and decide. Nothing becomes permanent before it has been reversible first.

Is DSD only for veneers?

No. The protocol guides any case where the smile is being rebuilt, including porcelain veneers, dental implants, and full arch rehabilitation. What DSD organizes is the planning, not a single procedure.

Do you speak English at the clinic?

Yes. Consultations, planning sessions, and treatment can be conducted in English, at the clinic in Jardim Paulista, São Paulo.

How long does the planning take?

It starts at the 2-hour systemic first consultation. The interdisciplinary team then builds the plan and presents it to you before any treatment decision is made.

Want to see your smile before deciding?

The 2-hour first consultation reads the whole case, in English if you prefer, and the plan is presented to you before anything begins.
